Are You at a Crossroad in Your Career?
As the year progresses, many of us find ourselves at a crossroads in our careers or businesses. We may have pushed through, but it's time to evaluate our situation and efforts to decide if it was worth it. If you're feeling stuck, here are six suggestions to help you move forward and find clarity.
π What percentage of your situation is due to external circumstances versus internal factors. It's essential to avoid blaming others entirely and instead acknowledge your own responsibility. By doing so, you can get a better perspective and avoid confirmation bias.
π Make a list of what you don't like or want. Express your complaints on paper and avoid bottling things up. Seeing your thoughts on paper will allow your mind to focus on finding alternatives and solutions.
π Create a gratitude list. Focusing on the good in a bad situation shifts your mindset and opens up new opportunities. By choosing to be grateful, you can switch from self-preservation mode to action mode and empower yourself to change your circumstances.
π Identify who you need to be to achieve the changes you desire. Think about people you admire and what qualities you can adopt to handle your situation better. This exercise helps you see your blind spots and realize that everything you need is already inside you.
π Determine if there is a clash between your values and your current situation. If your personal values and beliefs don't align with your work or company, it may be time to move on. Consider your top five values and why they matter to you to see if they align with your work values.
π Finally, consider seeking advice from others to gain new perspectives. A life coach, mentor, or person you trust can help you navigate through confusion and gain clarity on what you want. By taking these steps, you can find a new direction and create a life and career you love.
